Honolulu, Hawaiʻi – The Department of Health (DOH) has informed the Hawaiʻi State Legislature that as part of its prioritized vaccination system outlined in its press release dated January 8, 2021, all Legislative employees working in the Hawaiʻi State Capitol will be able to be vaccinated as members of its prioritized vaccination system's Phase 1b (i.e., individuals essential for government operations), on January 28, 2021.
The vaccinations will be issued through a DOH approved, “point of distribution” (POD) at the Hawaiʻi State Capitol. There are approximately 500 legislative employees.
Senate President Ronald D. Kouchi stated that, “the Governor and the DOH have categorized legislative bodies as part of Phase 1b and the vaccinations are being implemented through the DOH’s prioritized vaccination system.”
“To facilitate the broad vaccination of Phase 1a and 1b patients, the House worked with Hawaiʻi Pacific Health and The Queen's Health Systems to create two mass vaccination sites in Honolulu,” said House Speaker Scott Saiki.
