Honolulu, Hawaiʻi – To educate residents about albizia trees and improve safety in our communities, House Representative John M. Mizuno and Councilmember Tyler Dos Santos-Tam invite the public to attend a community meeting on Saturday, June 24. Attendees will learn how to identify, assess, and remove Albizia trees on their property and throughout their neighborhood.
Albizia trees are considered a high-risk invasive species, creating a safety hazard for residents and community infrastructure. The trees can grow rapidly in the first five years, making branches large and brittle, and the sudden drop of branches causes impacts to roads, homes, powerlines, and culverts.
