Honolulu, Hawaiʻi – Representative John Mizuno issued the following statement in response to an announcement from the City's Department of Planning and Permitting (DPP) regarding a large dwelling project on Hanai Loop in Kalihi.
“Reports regarding a monster home being built on Hanai Loop prompted Councilmember Tyler Dos Santos-Tam and I to implore the City's Department of Planning and Permitting to revoke the building permit of this structure. Through our joint efforts, we are honored to announce that DPP has seriously listened to our residents' concerns and has begun the process to revoke the building permit for that home. Today is a great day as we successfully shut down a monster home being constructed in violation of the rules and regulations under the law. We will continue to stand up for the people of our district and the State of Hawaiʻi," said Representative John M. Mizuno (D-29 Kamehameha Heights, Kalihi Valley, portion of Kalihi).
