Honolulu, Hawaiʻi – On Wednesday, Representative Rose Martinez will be joined by Marine Corps Base Hawaiʻi and local environmental experts to announce members of the Puʻuloa Range Working Group, which will convene to address impacts of noise, lead contamination, shoreline erosion, and other concerns regarding the Puʻuloa Range Training Facility. Representatives from Kuleana Coral Restoration will also be present to discuss a $75,000 grant awarded to conduct independent tests.
In April 2024, the House of Representatives adopted House Resolution 18, establishing the formation of a working group to address issues related to water and air contamination and remediation arising from the operation of the Puʻuloa Range Training Facility.
