WEST OʻAHU TOWN HALL TO DISCUSS TRANSPORTATION UPDATES AND WILDFIRE MANAGEMENT

Nānākuli, Hawaiʻi – On Wednesday, July 24, Representative Darius K. Kila invites residents to attend a West Oʻahu Town Hall regarding transportation improvements and updates on wildfire management.

Over the past two years, Representative Kila has served as Vice Chair of the House Committee on Transportation and Chair of the Oʻahu Metropolitan Organization, collaborating with key State and County stakeholders. These efforts have expedited and advanced projects that significantly improve the lives of thousands of residents along the Leeward coast, leading to the completion of several major projects, with many more in progress and planned for the future.

The attached list highlights some of the numerous State transportation improvement projects that have been completed, are currently underway, or are set to begin soon.

Representative Kila acknowledges the leadership at the Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation (HDOT) and the City Department of Transportation Services (DTS) for being community champions for West Oʻahu. He also credits his counterparts at the City Council and his predecessor at the State House for their continual commitment to improving transportation and the quality of life for the Leeward coastline.

“HDOT is working with the Legislature and partners like DTS to reset transportation infrastructure to make it safer for all and to expand access for the Leeward coast,” said HDOT Director Ed Sniffen. “We appreciate the continued collaboration in traffic safety and improving operations and the invitation to join the West Oʻahu community to provide updates.”

“The City and County's Department of Transportation Services is absolutely proud to stand together with our partners at the State Department of Transportation to deliver transportation solutions to Westside residents and visitors. This unprecedented and un-siloed approach has ensured that longstanding issues on all roadways are resolved with less delay and much improved safety for all,” said DTS Deputy Director Jon Nouchi.
